Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Human System Integration Engineer to lead and oversee the integration of human factors engineering principles within naval systems. The role involves ensuring the design and implementation of systems meet operational requirements while optimizing usability, safety, and performance in accordance with NAVSEA eCraft guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead human systems integration (HSI) efforts for naval systems acquisition and development programs.
- Conduct human factors analyses, including task analysis, workload assessment, and usability evaluations, to ensure systems align with operational and ergonomic standards.
- Develop and review HSI documentation, such as HSI plans, system requirements, and test procedures.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including system engineers, software developers, and end-users, to identify and resolve HSI-related design challenges.
- Perform system safety and survivability assessments, ensuring compliance with applicable standards and best practices.
- Provide technical input for system design reviews, including Preliminary Design Review (PDR) and Critical Design Review (CDR).
- Support risk management processes, identifying and mitigating HSI-related risks.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Human Factors, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- 15 years of experience in human systems integration, human factors engineering, or a related discipline, preferably within DoD or NAVSEA programs.
- Proficiency in HSI tools and methodologies, such as task analysis software, ergonomic assessment tools, and simulation models.
- Strong knowledge of MIL-STD-1472 and other relevant standards.
- Experience with NAVSEA acquisition processes and eCraft labor category guidelines.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with a proven ability to lead teams and manage complex projects.
