Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) to support cybersecurity assessments and Risk Management Framework (RMF) evaluations for both classified and unclassified networks. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in network security, cryptography, and cloud computing and possess the ability to conduct in-depth security reviews, develop countermeasures, and create technical security documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct manual reviews of network diagrams, configurations, and VPN termination points to identify security risks.
- Assess network device configurations and software TLS security to ensure compliance with security standards. Perform flexible RMF reviews tailored to unique operational needs, prescribing countermeasures for secure communications.
- Apply various security standards and frameworks (e.g., NIST, CNSSI, DoD cybersecurity guidelines) to enhance system security.
- Develop Security Assessment Reports (SARs), technical documents, and risk analyses for senior leadership.
- Provide technical guidance on encryption, network security architectures, and secure cloud computing environments.
- Conduct ad hoc technical and administrative cybersecurity tasks as required.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure security best practices are integrated into system designs.
- Exhibit leadership qualities by mentoring junior team members and contributing to security strategy discussions.
Required Qualifications:
- Extensive experience in network security, cryptography, and cloud security.
- Strong understanding of VPN configurations, TLS security, and secure communication protocols.
- Proficiency in RMF assessments and the ability to tailor security evaluations to mission needs.
- Familiarity with applying various cybersecurity frameworks and compliance standards.
- Excellent technical writing skills for creating security assessment reports and documentation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify vulnerabilities and recommend solutions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CISSP, CEH, or other relevant security certifications.
- Experience with zero-trust architectures, cloud security frameworks, and modern cryptographic solutions.
- Prior work supporting DoD, intelligence community, or federal government cybersecurity initiatives.
