The Construction Project Manager oversees all facets of on-site construction for energy retrofit design-build construction projects. Our ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of commercial construction experience in field operations and construction means and methods.
Skills and abilities:
- Responsible for the success of all assigned project field operations and the overall job site, which includes the coordination and supervisions of all construction activities.
- Manage and coordinate external resources and subcontractors.
- Develop, maintain and update the overall project schedule and help oversee short-term and long-term planning with the project team. Distribute monthly and three-week schedules to all subcontracts on a weekly basis. Ensure that the schedule is implemented, closely monitored, updated and meets the completion date.
- Schedule, supervise and coordinate subcontractor and distributor activities. Create and manage weekly subcontractor meetings.
- Participate in construction meetings between Willdan and owner’s representative.
- Thorough understanding of Company and industry practices, policies, and standards.
- Thorough understanding of safety requirements to ensure subcontractors and all on-site personnel are compliant.
- Assist construction manager with contract administration and interaction with the client.
- Ensure client concerns are resolved in a timely manner.
- Possess excellent organizational skills. Capable of maintaining project documentation and working on multiple activities/projects at one time.
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills. Demonstrates the ability to communicate ideas and concepts in both written and oral form. Relays confidence and authority in interactions with client and subcontractors.
- Ensure safety compliance of subcontractors and on-site personnel.
- Ensure client concerns are resolved in a timely manner.
- Identify potential issues and solve problems.
- Second shift work hours are required.
- Travel by company car to construction sites and office locations.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial construction of buildings, additions, and renovations.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Ability to effectively communicate knowledge and understanding of the general scope of the construction industry including the ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, building codes, and other project documentation.
- Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and building automation control systems in commercial and institutional facilities preferred.
- Capable of identifying, correcting, and avoiding potential schedule, budget or quality issues. The ability to make decisions, while balancing cost implications, in order to avoid disruptions in the work or customer’s operations.
- Uses experience and judgment to plan and accomplish project’s goals. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Project.
- OSHA 10-hour certification required with the expectation of completing the 30-hour certification within 3 months.
- Ability to lift 50lbs, climb stairs and ladders.
