Wildan Lighting & Electric, a division of Willdan Group Inc., is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Engineer to join our Multifamily Energy Efficiency Program team. This position plays a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and overseeing energy efficiency projects for multifamily buildings. The Senior Engineer will use their technical expertise to support energy audits, develop energy-saving strategies, and ensure that projects meet client expectations, energy savings targets, and regulatory compliance. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with the goal of reducing energy consumption, improving sustainability, and providing energy solutions for multifamily properties. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Project Management & Oversight: Lead the technical design and execution of energy efficient projects for multifamily properties, including energy audits, data analysis, and cost-benefit evaluations. 
  • Energy Analysis & Modeling: Conduct energy modeling and simulation to estimate energy savings, efficiency potential, and overall performance for various systems and equipment (HVAC, lighting, insulation, etc.).
  • Technical Consulting: Serve as a subject matter to internal teams, clients, and external contractors, providing technical guidance on energy efficiency measures, building systems, and technology solutions. 
  • Program Development: Assist in the development and refinement of energy efficiency program offerings, ensuring they align with regulatory standards, market trends, and customer trends. 
  • Quality Assurance: Review and ensure that technical specifications, calculations, and designs meet energy savings targets and comply with applicable codes and industry standards.
  • Team Management & Mentorship: Manage, mentor, and develop a team of engineers, providing guidance on project execution, professional growth, and skill development. Foster a collaborative, high-performance environment. 
  • Continuous improvement: Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in energy efficiency, and incorporate these into the program as appropriate. 
  • Reporting & Documentation: Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and documentation on energy efficiency measures, savings calculations, and project status for both internal stakeholders and clients. 
  • Client Relationship Management: Engage with clients to understand their energy goals, provide technical recommendations, and ensure that the program delivers value and meets expectations. 

Job Requirements / Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Energy Systems, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in energy efficiency, engineering, or a related technical field, with a focus on multifamily or residential buildings.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or certification in energy management (e.g., CEM, LEED, BPI, or similar). Preferred but not required. 
  • Knowledge of energy codes and standards (e.g., ASHRAE, IECC, Title 24, etc.). 
  • Proven experience in energy auditing, energy modeling, and working with building systems (HVAC, lighting, insulation, etc.).
  • Familiarity with energy efficiency programs, rebates, and incentives, particularly for multifamily buildings.
  • Experience in using energy simulation and modeling software (e.g., eQuest, EnergyPlus, TRNSYS, or similar tools).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in energy simulation software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work in a collaborative team environment. 
  • Knowledge of building energy systems, energy-saving technologies, and energy modeling. 
  • Experience in managing client relationships and working with diverse stakeholders.
