Primary Purpose: Promote student learning by providing responsive instruction that makes use of effective communication techniques, instructional strategies that actively engage students in the learning process, and timely, high-quality feedback which leads to improved student achievement and success.
Qualifications: Education/Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional Strategies:
- Develop and imelpement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of district's curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required.
- Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations and modifications for differences in studnet learning styles.
- Present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies, and accommodations and modifications for difference in student learning styles.
- Plan and use appropriate inustructional and learning stategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
- Work cooperatively with general education/special education teachers to modify curricla as needed for special education studnets according to guidelines established in the Individual Education plan (IEP).
- Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
- Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s).
- Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
- Work with studnets, parents, and other staff members to develop instuctional goals,objectives, and methods accordign to district requirements and outlines in the Individual Education Plan through the ARD Committe process for each student assigned.
- Assist students with personal care services including feeding, toileting, personal hygiene, tube feeding, and suctioning. This may include performing basic medical procedures under the training of a registered nurse.
Student Growth and Development
11. Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
12. Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
13. Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned.
14. Be a positive role model for students, support mission of school distirct.
Classroom Management and Organization
15. Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the Physical, social, and emotional development of students.
16. Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook,using proper district approved nonviolent crisis intervention process and procedures.
17. Analyze data and implement data-driven decision making for improvement efforts to support student progress using best practices.
18. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials,and facilities.
19. Assist in selection of equipment, and other instructional materials.
20. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required. Conduction case management duties according to Special Services' policy and procedures.
Communication
21. Collaborate with students, parents, and other members of staff to develop IEP through ARD committee process for each student assigned.
22. Collaborate with related services personnel to ensure that services are an integrated part of the total program of the student.
23. Maintain a professional relationship with collegues, students, parents, and community members.
24. Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
25. Communicate relevant progress concerning student progress with parents.

26. Acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to perform professional responsibilities.
27. Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
28. Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.

Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. Move media equipment, desks, and other classroom or adaptive equipment. May be required to lift and position students with physical disabilities; control behavior through physical restraint; and assist non-ambulatory students. Exposed to biological hazards.
Terms of Employment:
Work year established by the Board; salary according to current schedule.
Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually.
