What are the responsibilities and job description for the CTE: Cybersecurity Instructor position at William M Davies Jr. Career and Technical High School?
Davies is launching a Cybersecurity program in the 2025-2026 school year. As we approach the implementation of the program, the Cybersecurity Instructor will be integral to getting the program up and running prior to the start of school in August. The position includes consultant work from May to August to support program development, partnership development, and attend required professional development. Full-time teaching begins following the school calendar in August.
May 15-August 15 (Flexible hours)
- Course development via partnership with post-secondary
- Independent AP (Advanced Placement) course development
- Attend 4 day AP Career Kickstart training in NY/NJ
- Up to $5,000 stipend
Mid August begin full-time teaching under the Davies Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Qualifications
- Hold or be eligible for a RI Teacher Certification PK-12 in Math, Science or Computer Science related field, required
- Master’s Degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or Information Technology, required
- Three years relevant work experience in a Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or Information Technology, required
- Evidence of successful completion of or willingness to obtain NOCTI 5268
- Experience teaching at the secondary level, preferred
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as may be appropriate and acceptable
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a state-of-the-art Cybersecurity program, including theory and labs that facilitate meaningful student
learning in the core competencies of the curriculum
- Maintain student record, including grades, attendance, and performance measures that assess and improve student learning
- Foster a safe and productive learning environment
- Facilitate program advisory board meetings
- Support student career readiness and Work-Based Learning experiences
- Maintain knowledge of best practices in Cybersecurity and current industry standards to include industry certifications such as
CompTIA Security , CySA , Cisco Cybersecurity Associate, Certified Ethical Hacker and CISSP
- Perform other duties as assigned

Salary: Step salary, as defined in the Davies Teachers’ Association Collective Bargaining Agreement.
