Position Summary
The Associate Director, Employer Engagement in collaboration with the Graduate Career Management Center’s (GCMC) Associate Dean, Career Services & Executive Director for Graduate Career Management and Senior Director, Employer & Alumni Career Engagement, promotes the external corporate visibility of the Raymond A. Mason School of Business focusing on cultivating employer accounts, to build, maintain and expand the employer recruiter base by developing relationships that enable the Master of Business Administration (MBA), Specialty Masters (Master of Accounting -MAcc and Master of Science in Business Analytics-MSBA) candidate industry permanent full-time job and internship opportunities. Assist with converting internships to permanent vacancies, and work collaboratively with the Senior Director, Employer & Alumni Career Engagement to create or expand corporate partnerships and alumni relationships through the W&M Mason Career Champion Program to enhance the student to alumni interactions, improve career outcomes and exposure to the global business community.
The Associate Director, Employer Engagement position serves as the subject matter expert for employer engagement and is one the primary contacts with multiple industry employers, corporate partners and Mason School alumni with respect to programs for the recruitment of Mason graduate business students (MBA, MAcc, MSBA) for full-time and internship opportunities. This role embraces new career services initiatives and strategies consistent with the Mason School’s and Graduate Career Management Center’s mission, vision and strategic goals. Develops strategy, leads events and activities as the employer engagement lead and relationship manager for multiple industries including accounting, technology, energy, manufacturing, transportation/logistics, retail, energy, healthcare, and more in support graduate business students with a special focus on Specialty Masters Programs.
The Associate Director, Employer Engagement works in partnership with the Graduate Business Programs Office, Center for Military Transition and Advancement to support and deliver employer engagement experiences, such as information sessions, career treks, workshops, seminars, capstone support and summer boot camp program development. This position also focuses on supporting international students looking for career opportunities domestically and internationally. The role will also lead alumni and employer outreach efforts and will partner with employer engagement colleagues across William & Mary in support of holistic corporate engagement activities. The position takes an active role in leading relationships and opening breakthrough employer connections with local, regional, national professional, and international associations and organizations to support the career advancement of Mason School of Business students, while building and enhancing the reputation of the School and the graduate business programs in the employer community.

By shaping and executing proactive employer relations campaigns, this role helps to ensure robust recruiting pipelines and career outcomes for graduate students.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field.
- Experience in corporate/employer relations, human resources, corporate recruitment, or job development.
- Experience in managing corporate relations and alumni engagement initiatives.
- Exceptional communication and relationship management skills, including strategic marketing and presentations.
- Ability to work independently while managing complex projects.
- Advanced technical proficiency, particularly in data analysis and career management platforms, with a willingness to adopt new technologies usage.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive data under federal, state, and University guidelines.
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, and Office); Zoom and LinkedIn with the ability and willingness to learn new technologies including career management platforms such as Handshake.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in business.
- Prior demonstrated success working with alumni/employers, building new corporate partners & career opportunities in multiple geographic US & global markets.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and articulate a vision and strategic approach for employer relationship building.
- Knowledge of global, industry-related college recruiting practices and trends, and demonstrate current knowledge on skills required, high growth market sectors, labor market issues, and immigration and employment laws.
- Experience with career services technology such as Handshake as well as providing students with tools/resources for initiating competitive job search strategies and tracking metrics.
- Strong knowledge related to online job search engines, graduate business trends and career management systems.
- Evidence of the ability to apply the highest level of customer service and support to corporate partners, alumni and employers and communication skills to build rapport and establish working relationships with others.
