Position Summary
Reporting to the Dean of Computing, Data Sciences, & Physics (CDSP), the Director of Communications and Marketing plays a key leadership role in developing and implementing a comprehensive and complex communications strategy. This role leverages advanced experience in the marketing and communications field to build partnerships with internal and external constituents, and highlight the teaching, learning, and research activities taking place in CDSP. A successful candidate will have the experience and ability to work independently, exercise sound judgement, and manage conflicting deadlines and priorities.
The Director will drive the development and execution of key strategies, build influence, and develop products that support a robust communication and marketing plan. The Director will lead and implement strategies for advancement, academic departments/programs, and admissions to advance the school’s strategic priorities and strengthen the school’s brand perception. Other primary responsibilities include developing and implementing a digital communication strategy, website strategy and management, and content creation. The Director will serve as the main communications point of contact for CDSP and is a member of the Dean’s Advisory Committee.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education or experience.
- Considerable knowledge of marketing and/or communication methodologies, principles, and practices
- Considerable relevant professional experience including higher education, corporate, or nonprofit communications, content creation, and strategy
- Demonstrated ability to formulate and implement a comprehensive communications strategy that encompasses social media platforms, written correspondence, audio and video messaging, and web presence
- Demonstrated experience in managing a complex web site, web design, and website analytics
- Considerable knowledge and skills in digital media such as graphic design, video editing, and social media management
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; and to effectively work with diverse constituencies that includes faculty, staff, students, and external partners
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively, with a high degree of initiative, creativity, and flexibility
- Strong experience in using a variety of software applications such as MS Office, Adobe suite, Canva, Photoshop, survey tools, or similar

Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree from an accredited institution in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field
- Advanced knowledge or experience with web content management systems (e.g. Cascade)
- Prior communications or marketing experience in a higher education setting
- Professional experience in graphic design and video editing

$80,000 – 90,000 commensurate with experience and qualifications
