Position Summary
Facility Supervisors (FSs) are responsible for the overall supervision of the Student Recreation Center. More specifically, Facility Supervisors are responsible for all the duties involved with daily operations of the facility, supervising other Recreational Sports personnel and Recreation Center programs and enforcing Recreational Sports Department rules and regulations.
These duties include, but are not limited to, opening and closing the Student Recreation Center; being knowledgeable of department programs, activities, and policies; appropriately handling patron disputes and complaints; emergency management; maintaining patron and employee safety and rapport; and upholding a level of professionalism required of all Recreational Sports employs.
FSs will work in conjunction with the Student Development Graduate Assistant, the Student Development Assistant Director, other Student Recreation Center staff and each other in fulfilling these duties.
Conditions of Employment
- The position is designed to supplement the student workforce over holiday breaks, summer sessions, and between semesters. Early mornings and late night shifts are possible.
- All hourly employees are subject to the limitations of the Virginia Manpower Control Program and total hours worked may not exceed, 1400 hours, on average, 29 hours per week, over the course of a twelve (12) month period beginning May 1 each year. Pooled hourly position.
- This is a non-exempt position, eligible to receive overtime in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act. This position may be subject to overtime during high peak times, etc. as directed and approved by the supervisor.
- This is a restricted position, subject to the continued availability of funding.
