The Reves Center’s mission is to support and promote the internationalization of learning, teaching, research and community involvement at the William & Mary. We do this through programs for education abroad, international students and scholars and global engagement across the university.
Position Summary
The Global Education Advisor focuses on increasing study abroad applied learning opportunities and access through supporting study abroad programs, advising students about international opportunities and cross-cultural development, and enhancing the study abroad experience by increasing student self-reflection and career connections. Core responsibilities include:
- Supporting and managing select study abroad programs, including coordinating program logistics at home and abroad and working with W&M and overseas partners and faculty.
- Enhancing career development components for study abroad programs in line with the university’s vision and commitment to applied learning and career preparedness.
- Advising students on study abroad opportunities, processes, and policies by developing expertise of select portfolio of programs; preparing students prior to departure and supporting participants while abroad and upon return.
- Promoting policies, practices, and procedures that foster an inclusive environment as well as increase access to international education by addressing barriers.
The Global Education Office is delighted to add this new position to provide support to increasing numbers of study abroad students, faculty, and programs. William & Mary is currently ranked as the top public university for percentage of undergraduate study abroad participation. Study abroad is embedded in the W&M undergraduate curriculum, reflecting deep institutional and faculty commitment to global education. Thanks to dedicated donors, GEO awards significant scholarships to reduce financial barriers to global education. The GEO is a dynamic office and talented team which, in a typical year, works with more than 2,000 students at various phases of the study abroad process. In addition, GEO is home to a variety of in-bound international programs hosted at W&M for international students and professionals. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent level of education, experience, and training.
- Experience developing and supporting study abroad programs.
- Knowledge of and experience with cross-cultural issues.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and cooperatively with a diverse range of constituents.
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduate degree.
- Second language skills.
- Experience studying, living, or working abroad.
- Experience with student advising.

$55,000 - $56,000, commensurate with experience
