Role Description
The Structural/Roofing Contract Project Specialist plays a crucial role in managing and coordinating roofing and structural projects from initiation to completion. This position involves working closely with project managers, contractors, stakeholders, and university leadership to ensure that all aspects of the project are executed effectively, on time, and within budget. Coordinates plans and oversees contract carpentry, masonry, and roofing work across campus for the operations & maintenance department. Responsible for inspection, maintenance, and repair of roofs, as well as a wide variety of carpentry and masonry work for all facilities. Administers contracts and oversees contractor efforts for roofing maintenance and repairs, along with carpentry and masonry work.
Qualifications
- Training in contract administration.
- Considerable knowledge of all phases of carpentry, masonry, roofing construction, and repair/replacement methods and codes relating to roofing.
- Knowledge of structural, framing, and finish carpentry and all masonry methods and techniques.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to deal effectively with architects/engineers, contractors, faculty, students, and staff.
- Must be able to maintain records and interpret construction specifications and drawings.
- Must understand contract administration procedures and be able to oversee multiple simultaneous projects.
- Strong attention to detail and safety protocols
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Relevant certification or training in construction or roofing
Significant years of experience or a combination of general and/or specialty trades experience with emphasis in carpentry, masonry, and/or roofing construction.
- Certification from Roofing Industry NRCA/R.I.E. desired.
- Experience with mold/mildew, asbestos, and lead paint mitigation/remediation.
- Proficiency in project management software and related tools.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
