Description:
Looking to add to our PRN pool to cover regularly schedule shifts as well as potentially last minute needs due to illness.
Shifts:
Mon-Sat 1130-2130
Sundays 1200-2000
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs and documents physical examinations on all patients, neonate through the geriatric population.
- Obtains and documents patient’s medical histories.
- Assesses and documents patients and/or families psychosocial issues.
- Performs and/or orders diagnostic and therapeutic procedures/tests.
- Explains all tests/procedures to patient/family including any pre-testing requirements.
- Interprets subjective and objective data to formulate a diagnosis.
- Interprets laboratory and diagnostic test results.
- Formulates diagnoses and treats illnesses within scope of practice.
- Formulates patient treatment plans within the ARNP or PA’s scope of practice.
- Implements therapeutic interventions when appropriate within scope of practice.
- Assists in the management of acutely traumatized patients and cares for minor injuries.
- Provides counseling/education for patients and families on preventative healthcare.
- Consults with a physician or specialist with difficult cases or when a case is out of the scope of practice for a physician’s assistant or APRN.
- Orders, prescribes dispenses and administers drugs and medical devices within scope of practice. (See Kansas State Law).
- Able to perform minor surgical procedures.
- Maintains proper E/M documentation and Chart Completion within 24-48 hours of patient visit. Not to exceed 15 incomplete charts at any given time.
- Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
- Communicates appropriately and clearly to supervising physician, nurses, clinic staff.
- Maintains a good working relationship within the emergency room staff and hospital staff.
- Treats patients, families and staff with respect and dignity.
- Demonstrates the ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.
- Teaches students clinic specific procedures, techniques.
- Attends all emergency room and medical staff meetings as appropriate to the hospital’s rules and regulations.
Professional Requirements:
- Adheres to dress code, appearance is neat and clean.
- Completes annual education requirements, including all state federal and CMS regulations.
- Maintains regulatory requirements.
- Maintains and ensures patient confidentiality at all times.
- Reports to work on time and as scheduled, completes work within designated time.
- Wears identification while on duty, uses computerized time system correctly.
- Completes in-services and returns in a timely fashion.
- Attends annual review and department in-services, as scheduled.
- Attends staff meetings and reads staff meeting minutes.
- Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.
- Actively participates in performance improvement and quality improvement CQI activities, attends committee and management meetings, as appropriate.
- Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
- Communicates the mission, vision, core values, ethics and goals of the hospital.
- Works at maintaining a good rapport and a cooperative working relationship with physicians, departments and staff.
- Ensures compliance with policies and procedures regarding department operations, fire safety and infection control.
Regulatory Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Health Sciences, etc.
- Graduate of an accredited APRN/PA Program.
- Licensed in the State of Kansas as APRN/PA.
- Registered with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) if applicable.
- Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP and ATLS certifications.
- Current liability coverage.
- Must complete CME as indicated by licensure.
- Scope of practice is related directly to the APRN/PA’s supervising physician and individual state laws.
- Must have a collaborative supervising MD or DO per William Newton Hospital Guidelines
Salary : $89,300 - $115,500
