Shift : FT 1st Shift / Hrs Negotiable
Job Summary : Perform sonographic imaging (general and vascular) to produce images that can be interpreted to provide a diagnosis. Willingness to learn adult echo.
Job Duties and Responsibilities :
Obtaining and recording an accurate patient history.
Explains the test to the patient. Instructs and assists the patient in assuming the physical position for examination.
Able to assess patient pain interfering with imaging procedure – makes appropriate physician contact for intervention.
Performs diagnostic procedures and obtains diagnostic images.
Analyze technical information.
Enters test data and patient information into computer to maintain record of test results.
Provide an oral or written summary to the referring physician, as requested.
Performs all quality control checks, as appropriate.
Maintains accurate QC logs, service records, etc.
Understands and practices proper use of all equipment; never operates equipment inconsistent with manufacturer’s instruction.
Have knowledge of hospital policies and the functions of other departments.
Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient, including pediatric, geriatric and general population.
Performs additional modalities as appropriate.
Requirements :
Professional Requirements :
Adheres to dress code standards, appearance is neat and clean.
Completes annual educational requirements.
Maintains regulatory requirements, including all state, federal and CMS regulations.
Maintains and ensures patient confidentiality at all times.
Works at maintaining a good rapport and a cooperative working relationship with physicians, departments and staff.
Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.
Communicates appropriately and clearly to physicians, staff, administration, patients and visitors.
Resolves personnel concerns at the department level, utilizing the grievance process a required.
Ensures compliance with policies and procedures regarding department operations, fire, safety and infection control.
Reports to work on time and as scheduled; completes work within designated time.
Takes call as scheduled.
Consistently completes and maintains assigned duties.
Wears identification while on duty; uses computerized time system correctly.
Attends annual review and department in-services, as scheduled.
Attends staff meetings, reads all staff meeting minutes if absent from meeting.
Actively participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (QI) activities.
Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
Communicates the mission, vision, core values, ethics and goals of the hospital.
Regulatory Requirements :
One year sonography experience is preferred.
Specific experience and training in ultrasound.
ARDMS registered. (RVT required)
Current BLS (CPR) certification.
Knowledge and understanding of general anatomy, physiology and medical terminology.
