William Paterson University seeks applications from outstanding candidates for a non-tenure track position as Instructor in Computer Science or Information Technology in the Department of Computer Science within the College of Science & Health. Applications from all areas of Computer Science or Information Technology will be considered but teaching experience in areas such as Cybersecurity, Data Analytics, Machine Learning, or Generative Artificial Intelligence is preferred, as well as breadth in teaching a variety of foundational courses in programming, hardware, databases, and networking. The position is renewable annually based on satisfactory job performance in the first five years, with opportunities for promotion as well as subsequent longer contracts available based on performance and department need.
The Department of Computer Science provides degrees at the bachelors and masters levels. Most WP Computer Science and Information Technology students are employed in related fields or accepted into a graduate program within months of completion of their degree. The department is ABET accredited in Computer Science, adhering to the ACM’s most recent curricular guidelines, rapidly expanding in degree programs and course offerings, and staying current in the state-of-the-art standards in academics, research, and professional growth.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Teach in-person undergraduate and graduate courses in multiple modalities.
- Engage with faculty to ensure efficient organization of courses and coursework consistent with professional standards; develop courses and curriculum.
- Support students in their academic endeavors.
- Serve on graduate student committees and on other committees as appropriate.
- Participate in a variety of opportunities within the department, college, and university community including, where required, mentoring students.
- Engage in formal and informal processes of departmental assessment of student learning and programming.
- Attend department and college meetings as required and engage in activities of the department.
- Engage in professional development to stay current and academically prepared in the field.
- Perform other teaching or administrative duties assigned as appropriate depending on departmental needs.
Required Qualifications:
- Masters degree from an accredited college or university, with an emphasis in Computer Science or Information Technology or closely related field.
