NATURE OF WORK: Under the direction of the Director and Youth Program Coordinator, and Aquatics Manager. The Assistant Coordinator assists in overseeing the Shore Aquatic Center after-school program (SPARK Squad), holiday camps, and summer day camps, As well as Splash Preschool. Responsibilities include supervising staff, ensuring safety, and interacting with the program participants and parents. The Assistant Coordinator works a flexible schedule and adheres to the policies and procedures of the William Shore Memorial Pool District.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The following duties are the main responsibilities of the SPARK Squad Assistant Coordinator position. This list is not all-inclusive and additional duties may be assigned as needed.

1. Assistant Coordinator operating the SPARK Squad program & Splash Preschool Program under the supervision and guidance of the youth program Coordinator. Supervise and provide direction to the program leaders.

2. Set a positive example of what an Activity Leader should do, say, and how to act 100% of the time while working in the SPARK Program.

3. Ensure students are signed in and out per policy. Ensure proper student supervision throughout the duration of the program.

4. Lead program leaders when Coordinator is not on-site, having full knowledge of schedule, activities and providing leadership to activity Leaders.

5. Arrive on time as scheduled.

6. Prepare appropriately for the activities of the day. Participate in activities.

7. Communicate effectively on a daily basis with participants’ parents/guardians, program leaders, and supervisors/managers.

8. Ensure the safety and satisfaction of program participants.

9. Ensure all program equipment is in good working condition and stored in a neat and orderly fashion. Request new equipment and supplies as needed.

10. Maintain current and accurate records relative to all aspects of the program, including attendance, contact information, and emergency/medical forms.

11. Evaluate program content and relay pertinent information to immediate Coordinator/Directors.

12. Assist in training and evaluating activity leaders.

13. Lead SPARK summer program under supervision of Youth Programs Coordinator.

14. Complete any other duties as assigned by the youth programs Coordinator, Director, Aquatics Manager, Member services Manager or Executive Director.

15. Works 5 days week mon-fri varied schedule. varied schedule depending on the need of program.

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The SPARK Squad Assistant Coordinator will work a 32 hour flexible schedule where hours may vary, depending on need of the program. Work requires a normal range of vision and hearing, and the ability to lift in excess of 50 lbs, bend, and stoop. The coordinator will be working with general cleaning supplies.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

· Must be at least 18 years of age.

· Must maintain a CPR/First Aid Certification with AED and be competent in those skills.

· 1 year of experience working with children (preferred).

· Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.

· Must pass local police and Washington State Adult/Child Abuse records check prior to hire.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

· Knowledge of basic computer skills including electronic cash registers.

· Ability to work independently with minimal direction.

· Ability to plan, organize, and manage a high-quality program.

· Ability to lead staff in the absence of the management staff.

· Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

· Ability to serve the public in a polite and friendly manner.

· Ability to complete reports in an accurate and timely manner.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.88 - $21.73 per hour
