Job Title: Accounts Payable ClerkDepartment: Business ServicesReports To: ControllerJob Type: This is a full time, non exempt position.General Description:The Accounts Payable Clerk is responsible for managing William Woods University’s accounts payable, which includes processing invoices, making payments, reconciling accounts, assisting the Accounting Specialist and Controller, and special projects as assigned.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Ø Process accounts payable - Review purchase orders, invoices, and employee reimbursements to ensure appropriate documentation, approvals, and compliance with university policies. Print checks and generate electronic payments and distribute appropriately. Ø Maintain vendor records.Ø Coordinate university credit card documentation.Ø Follow-up on outstanding checks.Ø Review invoices for fixed assets and prepaids.Ø Generate reports as requested by the Controller.Ø Crosstrain and provide backup for business office functions.Ø Provide assistance to the Controller with reporting, compliance, annual audit work, annual tax preparation and reporting, and other special projects.Ø Field calls from vendors and staff regarding payments.Ø Track credit card checkouts.Position Requirements:Ø High school diploma/GED required.Ø Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or finance preferred (not required).Ø Prior accounting/bookkeeping experience preferred.Typical Physical Demands:Ø Ability to use a 10 key calculator.Ø Ability to use a computer system and adequately input data.Ø Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers.Ø Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.Ø Ability to speak and read English fluently.Ø Ability to hear.Ø Effective mobility skills required to move about freely and quickly in the office and on campus.Work Schedule:This is a 12-month (year-round) non-exempt position requiring 40 hours per week, with evening or weekend work as needed.William Woods University is an independent institution chartered by the State of Missouri with main campus facilities in Fulton, MO.
