What are the responsibilities and job description for the Utility Worker position at Williams College?
A 35-hour per week, 9-month year-round position, reporting to the Late-Night Assistant Manager in Paresky, is available. The schedule will be Sunday through Thursday 6:30 pm – 2:00 am with Friday & Saturday off. All schedules are subject to change based on the needs of the department.

Responsibilities:
Dishwashing and Sanitation
- Clean and sanitize dishware, utensils, and cooking equipment.
- Regularly sanitize kitchen areas, serving lines, dish storage, and mop rooms.
- Maintain a clean and orderly recycling area, handling proper disposal of food waste and recyclables.
- Restock service ware during meal periods to ensure smooth dining operations.
- Support small event set-ups for meetings and breaks as needed.
- Perform general custodial duties within the kitchen and dining areas, keeping all areas clean and organized.
- Sanitize the dishwashing machine and surrounding areas as part of routine maintenance.
- Assist in receiving, organizing, and stocking all incoming goods, ensuring proper storage and accessibility.
- Assist with food preparation tasks, such as washing, peeling, and cutting food items in preparation for cooking and serving.
Qualifications:
- Must be able to work independently
- The job requires prolonged periods standing and moving about the space, lifting of material up to 40 lbs and bending to complete duties as assigned
- Must possess strong customer service skills when working with a diverse population of students, faculty, and staff
- Knowledge and ability to serve guests with the highest level of professional service is required
- Prior food service experience is preferred
