Position Overview
The Senior Software Development Manager is responsible for shaping and executing IT strategy, delivery, and support for customer departments. This role involves partnering with various organizations to deliver technology solutions that enhance business processes efficiently and effectively. The manager will collaborate with leaders in Williams’ IT organization and aligned business areas to establish robust communication channels and relationships. They will drive change management and oversee IT strategies, programs, and projects. Additionally, the manager will provide leadership and direction to direct reports, including selecting, developing, and managing a team to innovate and enhance products and services. With strong business acumen, the manager will partner with the business to design and implement solutions that support organizational goals and improve efficiency. They will also control capital and expense budgets, ensuring budget goals are met.
Day In The Life
As the Sr Software Development Manager, you’ll lead a dynamic team of software developers and an additional manager’s team to support a vital, custom-built, external-facing commercial web application that underpins some of the most critical midstream infrastructure in the United States. Your daily activities will include collaborating with business partners to understand their challenges, gather requirements, design solutions, and ensure priorities are aligned. You’ll work closely with centralized IT support teams to maintain system reliability and drive successful project execution. Mentoring and developing team members will be a key part of your role, as well as forecasting and managing budgets exceeding four to five million dollars annually. You’ll also define and execute strategic initiatives for the team, fostering growth and innovation.
Responsibilities / Expectations :
- Leads a hard-working team of business systems analysts and developers and coordinates workforce planning and career development activities for team members.
- Builds strong relationships with business partners and external vendors.
- Drives standardization of application platforms across all dedicated business areas, enables simplification, and finds opportunities to fully use existing system functionality.
- Creates a strategic roadmap for the business areas that align with overall IT strategy for the company.
- Maintains a solid understanding of industry and technology trends as they apply to the aligned business areas.
- Serves as a solution provider to business partners including evaluation and analysis of system changes and new systems; Provides project leadership and management of business initiatives following project lifecycle, testing and all applicable policies and procedures.
- Prepares, monitors and manages capital and expense budgets.
