Summary : Drives an assigned company vehicle primarily to deliver material to customers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities to include but not limited to :
- Help with preload of vans for delivery
- Participates in 100% load check on all deliveries.
- Checks that all deliveries are invoiced prior to leaving yard (except authorized CODs)
- Delivers product to assigned stops.
- Follow all State and Federal Safety Laws of safe driving.
- Unloads and verifies product to customer’s invoice. Gets customer’s signature as possible. Collects COD’s as needed.
- Safe and careful handling on all product and equipment thru the whole process.
- Represents Williams Lumber in a professional and courteous manner while on the road and job sites.
- Reports any problems immediately to Yard Foreman or Branch Manager. This includes damage, shortage, ect.
- Follows proper procedures in reporting any vehicle accident or near miss. These must be immediately reported to supervisor.
- Maintains truck logs according to state and federal regulations.
- Maintains the appearance of vehicle assigned.
- Follows all safety procedures.
- Maintains radio and / or telephone contact with dispatcher to receive delivery instructions.
- Help with unloading vendor and transfer deliveries.
- Inspects truck equipment and supplies.
- Reports any mechanical problems of the vehicle immediately to supervisor.
- Readily complies with all DOT required testing and training regulations.
- Performs yard / warehouse activities when not assigned driving duties.
- Maintains good housekeeping practices in assigned areas.
- Displays teamwork and effort in performance of all duties.
- Participates in all required training assignments.
- Completes any daily vehicle maintenance logs as needed
- Other duties may be assigned.
As with all other jobs, other duties may be assigned. Management reserves the right to reassign an individual in this position to another position in the interest of efficient personnel utilization.

Education and / or Experience
High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma; or six to twelve months’ related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other associates of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations
Valid driver license required to be maintained throughout position assignment of Driver.
