Summary
Materials Coordinator is responsible for a variety of tasks including shipping, receiving and inventory. The position verifies materials received are as ordered and routes incoming items to appropriate departments/locations, prepares items for shipment ensuring cost effective courier services, and controls storage and movement of materials.
Essential Functions
- Use MRP/ ERP software to Receive, label, organize, store and action movement of materials to support the manufacturing process.
- Receives and unloads incoming materials. Compares information on packing slip with purchase order to verify accuracy of shipment. Process necessary return shipments from customers.
- Sorts, counts, packages, labels, unpacks, and logs inventory which is shipped or received.
- Inspects shipments for damages or defects. Records discrepancies and damages. Then notifies the proper personnel. Supervisor and/or purchasing.
- Action shipping of sales orders.
- Prepares shipments for postal or commercial conveyance; determines most economical and efficient shipping method; selects appropriate shipping container; packs items to ensure safe delivery.
- Obtains shipping/ transportation quotes to ensure best pricing/ best shipping method.
- Prepares bills of lading; checks items to be shipped against work orders to ascertain that quantities, destination, and routing are correct.
- Organizes kitting of small parts for subassemblies ahead of manufacturing “required by” dates.
- Proactively works with production/program managers to provide them visibility on what is coming through the pipeline and what needs to ship.
- Ability to support month-end deadlines.
- Reconcile waybill, bill of lading with bill of materials and actual shipment arrivals.
- Delivers items to requisitioning departments and obtains authorized signatures for accepted items.
- Traces lost shipments and/or customer claims of lost shipments. Initiates proof of delivery documents.
- Will be responsible for inventory control activities to support manufacturing.
- Additional duties as assigned.
- Additional work hours as needed.
Requirements
Qualifications and Skills
Required:
1. Experience with MRP / ERP systems. Training in Epicor ERP will be provided.
2. High school diploma or GED.
3. Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office. Ability to work with spreadsheets, use reporting functions.
4. Excellent communication and organizational skills.
5. Ability to work independently and with little supervision.
6. Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 30 pounds. Bend and stoop.
7. Must have a valid driver’s license.
Pay Range:
$22.00 - $30.00 an hour
