This is an outstanding development opportunity that will provide the successful candidate with a number of unique opportunities while in the role! Responsibilities may vary based upon location, business needs, and the intern's education and skills. Projects may include:
- Assists in daily operations including valve alignments, product sampling, pipeline starting/stopping, truck and rail loading, daily inspections, and plant monitoring
- Works around various assets including pipelines, pump stations, underground cavern storage fields, brine ponds, truck and rail terminals, and fractionation plant
- Collaborates with various groups including Instrumentation and Electrical Technicians, Maintenance Technicians, Facility Operators, Pipeline Controllers, and Lab and Measurement Technicians
- Trains in electrical, instrumentation and controls; provides I/E support
- Participates in flow path training
- Performs transmitter calibrations
- Completes line locations, pigging, valve maintenance, daily rounds and readings within the gathering system
- Builds mechanical knowledge while conducting tasks associated with mechanical maintenance, preventative maintenance, compliance activities, and general cleaning of facilities/assets
- Assists with a variety of tasks to safely maintain facility equipment and support operations, while collaborating with others to find solutions to technical or operational problems
- Acquires knowledge of and follows requirements for safe and efficient operation of facilities, execution of tasks, protection of community, personnel, environment, and assets
- Completes assigned reports, logs and maintains accurate records of process operations and performance of preventative maintenance on equipment
- Other duties as assigned
- Required: High School Diploma/GED
- Current enrollment in and completion of one semester of the Natural Gas Transmission & Distribution program at Barton Community College OR Automation Engineer Technology, Automotive Tecnology, Machine Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or Industrial Electrical Technology program at Hutchinson Community College OR similar technical program throughout Wyoming, Colorado, and Kansas
Must be willing to:
- Work in extreme temperatures, with loud noises and in enclosed spaces
- Work regularly outside in various conditions and weather
- Carry or lift items up to 50 lbs and team lift loads of more than 50 lbs as the need arises
- Stand, walk, climb, bend, stoop, and squat, often for long periods of time
- Work at elevated levels, potentially from man lifts, ladders, scaffolding, and/or small towers, with appropriate PPE (Personal Protection Equipment)
- Use hand tools
- Up to 60-70% travel along pipeline
- Occasional overnight travel as the need arises
- Possible pipeline locations include Northern Oklahoma, Southern, Central, and Western Kansas, Northern and Eastern Colorado, Southern Wyoming
- Travel and work locations will be situational based on operational needs, experience/exposure for the op-tech intern, and location of the op-tech intern
- Must possess valid State Driver’s License and clean driving record
- This position is not eligible for sponsorship
- Demonstrates excellent organizational/interpersonal skills and safety as the utmost priority
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications and PC skills
- Possesses strong problem solving, analytical, creative thinking, and verbal/written communication skills
- Prior leadership experience within a work, project and/or campus environment
Compensation is a nonnegotiable rate of $25.67/hour.
- A housing stipend will be provided; additional relocation will also be given for those moving more than 50 miles from their home and school address
