Responsibilities/Expectations:
- Provides technical expertise and services to support the operation of a large, sophisticated communications network
- Maintains field telecom/network equipment (radios, VSAT, fiber, routers, switches, term servers, alarm remotes, cell modems, DC power systems, security cameras/systems, etc.) independently, with assistance from other internal or external support teams as the need arises
- Provides reliable and efficient telecommunications and network services to the office in Parachute, Colorado and field sites located across the Western Range Colorado.
- Communicates on a regular basis with Telecom and Network Engineering team regarding network projects, upgrades, and outages
- Collaborates with Operations, SCADA, Pipeline Control, Measurement, and other support groups and outside vendors or contractors
- Installs, tests, and maintains all telecom and network equipment located within assigned area of responsibility; Occasionally works outside assigned area to assist other techs, help with projects, and to provide support as needed
- Maintains and repairs all company owned and leased communications facilities including towers, buildings, and all associated equipment. Tower climbing is performed by contractors, but the responsible Williams tech will ensure safe work practices are followed and quality results are achieved
- Other duties as assigned
- Required: High School Diploma/GED, technical/trade school certification or military electronics training and minimum eight (8) years' experience in telecommunications, operations or maintenance
- Preferred: Associate's or two-year technical school degree in electronics or military electronics training and valid FCC license, telecommunications certificate or license
- Preferred: FCC General Radiotelephone Operator license
- Preferred: Proven understanding of Cisco routers, switches, and access point
- Preferred: Experience maintaining telecommunications infrastructure for a pipeline company, utility provider, railroad, or other related business.
- Preferred: Experience with Snowcat operations and mountain outdoorsmanship.
- Currently reside or are willing to relocate within 50 miles of Parachute, Colorado;
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License and good driving record
- Knowledge of communications services (TCP/IP, Ethernet, Fiber Optics, T1, Wireless, etc.)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications and PC skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Must be willing to:
- Work in extreme temperatures, with loud noises and in enclosed spaces
- Carry or lift items up to 50 lbs and team lift loads of more than 50 lbs as needed
- Stand, walk, climb, bend, stoop, and squat, often for long periods of time
- Work at elevated levels, potentially from man lifts, ladders, scaffolding, and/or small towers, with appropriate PPE (Personal Protection Equipment)
- Use hand tools
- Must be willing to travel daily using a company-provided vehicle; overnight travel will occasionally be vital
- Ability to work after hours, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Ability to be on-call 24/7
