Overview
Works under the supervision of OR leadership in personal care of the patients during their surgical experience, to include, but not limited to positioning, assisting with advance surgical equipment function and use, assisting in the peri-anesthesia and peri-operative areas, and their environment (including those needing special precautions) and performs specified treatments. In addition, this position must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served in assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and provide the care needed as described according to the departmental policy and procedure. Promotes and maintains safe work environment for staff as well as our customers, incorporating national patient safety initiatives. Understands and participates with surgical services staff, under the direction of the RN, in the care of patients during their surgical experience, to include, but not limited to positioning, assisting with advance surgical equipment function and use, assisting in the peri-anesthesia areas, providing support for Anesthesia service and supplies, and patient transport.

Answers patient/family member questions timely. Demonstrates positive customer service utilizing appropriate telephone etiquette. Strives to meet/exceed the needs of the facility's customers/patients by demonstrating flexibility and sense of urgency to patient care needs.
- Demonstrates understanding and knowledge of the technology systems necessary for patient data collection.
- Demonstrates understanding of role responsibilities related to plan of care for individualized patient care as directed by the RN/LPN. Performs general patient care as appropriate within scope of work.
- Demonstrates accountability for availability of resources (equipment, instruments, supplies) necessary to ensure positive patient outcomes. Maintains clean, safe, and orderly work/patient environment by cleaning work stations/areas, equipment; stocking supplies; placing equipment in proper storage areas.
- Demonstrates the ability to establish an environment of safety and assure safe practice for the patient as evidenced by recognizing and implementing accrediting body Patient Safety Goals and Quality Standards. Follows RHS policies and procedures and complying with regulatory agency requirements. Capable of recognizing emergency situations and responds competently.

Education
- High School Diploma or GED, (Required)
Experience
- 1 year Acute healthcare experience (Preferred)
Licenses and Certifications
- Certified Nurse Aid (CNA) - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) Upon Hire(Preferred) and
- CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) Upon Hire(Required)
