What are the responsibilities and job description for the Emergency Management Officer II (EMA) Full-Time position at Williamson County Government?
The Williamson County Emergency Management Agency has a vacancy for an Emergency Management Officer II. This position reports to the Readiness Coordinator as a member of the Readiness Team and plays a critical role in implementing the County’s comprehensive emergency management programs.
This position roles and responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Fosters good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Leads and manages multiple projects and/or programs as assigned.
- Leads the develop, update, and evaluate emergency plans, procedures, and protocols.
- Facilitates the coordination and execution of emergency preparedness drills and exercises.
- Conduct risk assessments and vulnerability analyses to identify potential hazards.
- Provide training and technical assistance to staff, volunteers, and community members on emergency preparedness and response.
- Manage emergency equipment, resources, and supplies.
- Compiles and analyzes data to improve emergency management practices and outcomes.
- May serve as a liaison during emergency incidents, coordinating resource allocation and information dissemination.
- Respond and serve as an Emergency Services Coordinator, Branch Director or other position as assigned during an EOC activation.
Education and Experience:
Associates Degree in emergency management or related field with at least three years in an emergency services role IS-100, IS-200, ICS-300, ICS-400, IS-700, IS-800, and the FEMA Professional Development Series are required within 12 months of hire. A minimum of one industry-recognized certification, credential, or licensure is preferred.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
Must be able to lift 50-100lbs, climb over and lift heavy debris, drive vehicles and operate some emergency response equipment, traverse and maintain endurance over rough terrain, hear and speak clearly in different settings during times of emergencies, and visually assess and physically maneuver in the field during training or actual emergencies. Though much of the work will be conducted in office settings, there may also be exposure to environmental conditions and/or hazardous materials which may cause discomfort and pose a limited risk of injury for extended periods of time.
