POSITION SUMMARY
The Information Desk Receptionist serves to greet all visitors to the Medical Center, providing accurate and timely information as assistance. The receptionist also provides appropriate patient information assistance via telephone.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Formal Education/Training:
High school diploma
Workplace Experience:
At lease one year of clerical/office, receptionist and/or customer service experience
Equipment and Skills Training:
Computer, telephone, pager, copier, fax and wheelchairs
Physical Environment:
Primarily the Information Desk; all areas of the Medical Center
Physical Effort:
Ability to sit for long periods of time, up to 12 hours. Ability to walk short distances to escort visitors, as necessary, to their destinations. Must exhibit strong communication skills-–both verbal and written.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
- Receives all customers presenting to front desk. Provides accurate information and assists with customer needs or identifies those resources needed to assist customer.
- Knowledgeable of Medical Center facts, access to policies, resources, locations, etc., to provide accurate, timely information
- Receives incoming calls and directs/transfers on to appropriate departments or patient room information.
- Organizes and maintains work area, specific to the Information Desk, Main Lobby and Volunteer Lounge
- Maintains literature holders and flu station stands in and around the Main Lobby and Tower Lobby – Orders supplies as needed for restocking
- Escorts visitors to their destinations as needed
- Maintains updated resources, for information desk, necessary for information communication, i.e., phone/pager lists, directories, phone books, maps, brochures, discharge binder, etc.
- Logs and assists with flower deliveries
- Completes, in an accurate and timely manner, clerical assignments from the Volunteer Program Coordinator
- Responsible for identifying lobby wheelchair maintenance issues and completing work orders for repairs.
- Directs the activity of volunteers assigned to the Information Desk.
- Helps with special projects/events as needed
