Position summary:
The primary function of this position is to perform the day-to-day housekeeping and cleaning activities of the Housekeeping Department in accordance with all federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations which govern the facility, and, as directed by the Director of Housekeeping and/or Administrator so as to ensure facility is maintained in a clean, safe and comfortable manner.
Duties and Responsibilities – Environmental Services Assistant (Housekeeping)
General: 90%
- Cleans all assigned areas, furnishing, fixtures, etc., according to established housekeeping procedures.
- Follows cleaning schedules (daily, weekly, monthly, etc.), as outlined for the housekeeping department.
- Cleans floors, carpets, walls, doors, ceilings, lights, windows, mirrors, commodes, beds, side-rails, etc., as directed.
- Takes trash out to the dumpster, (breaks down cardboard boxes).
- Assists in the transporting of resident belongings as necessary.
- Performs cleaning of units in resident rooms and isolation units as directed.
- Prepares rooms for new occupants.
- Adheres to, upholds and enforces all facility policies and procedures.
- Maintains cleaning equipment and supplies in a clean, orderly manner.
- Maintains a safe work environment and exhibits safe work practices
- Attends department meetings and educational programs as scheduled or assigned.
Administrative: 10%
- Inspects all equipment and the environment for worn, defective, broken, etc., equipment, tools, furnishings, etc., and reports the same to Housekeeping Supervisor.
- Reports supply and equipment needs to Housekeeping Supervisor.
- Waters flowers in resident rooms and other areas as assigned.
- Report activity daily on housekeeping log.
Miscellaneous/Other (Exhibited 100%)
- Assumes all other duties as assigned.
- Maintains a professional, customer-oriented demeanor at all times.
- Works within a team concept and is thus cooperative with co-workers and peers.
- Maintains confidentiality of information.
- Represents the facility in a positive manner.
Qualifications
Education and Experience Requirements:
1. High school diploma or G.E.D equivalent.
2. Ability to read, write and speak English.
3. Ability to follow oral and written direction.
Physical Demands:
Frequent standing, walking, carrying, forward, lateral and low reaching, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, hand, arm and finger use. Occasional carrying (10 pounds), squatting, and overhead reaching. Rare to infrequent climbing, crawling, or stepping downward. Lift 40 pounds (mop bucket).
Environmental Conditions:
1. Frequent wet floors.
2. Body fluid exposure—universal precautions.
3. Occasional dust, fumes and noise.
4. Working on hard floor surfaces.
