Position Statement:
Williamstown Elementary School is seeking a compassionate, knowledgeable, and collaborative Elementary Special Education Teacher to join our student-centered and inclusive learning community. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to equity and the belief that all students can learn. This educator will provide specialized instruction, support differentiated learning, and help foster an environment where every child feels valued, supported, and capable of success.
Qualifications:
1.Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred.
2.Licensed, or eligible for licensure, as a Moderate Disabilities (PreK–8) or Severe Disabilities teacher by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
3.Strong understanding of IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoring.
4.Experience using a variety of instructional strategies and supports to meet diverse learning needs.
5.Knowledge of current special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
6.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
7.Experience working with elementary-aged students with diverse needs, including autism, learning disabilities, and behavioral challenges, is preferred.
8.Commitment to inclusive practices, culturally responsive teaching, and trauma-informed care.
Responsibilities & Essential Functions (which include but are not limited to):
1.Provide direct, specialized instruction to students with disabilities in accordance with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
2.Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to develop and implement inclusive instructional plans.
3.Create a safe, supportive, and structured classroom environment that promotes student engagement and independence.
4.Participate in all aspects of the IEP process, including assessments, team meetings, goal development, service delivery, and progress reporting.
5.Implement data-driven instruction and monitor student progress using formal and informal assessment tools.
6.Differentiate instruction based on student learning styles, levels, and needs.
7.Maintain accurate records, including progress notes, service logs, and documentation required for compliance.
8.Support the implementation of behavior intervention plans and utilize positive behavior supports.
9.Serve as a liaison between school and home, maintaining regular and clear communication with families.
10.Engage in professional learning and school initiatives as part of a collaborative faculty team.
11.Foster positive relationships with students, colleagues, and caregivers to support an inclusive school community.
12.Make provisions for being available to students and families for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required.
13.Other duties as assigned by the Principal.
Benefits & Compensation:
The salary range for Educator positions with Mt. Greylock RSD is commensurate with education and related experience with annual salaries ranging from $50,474 to $110,081 (for 2025–2026).

Provisions & Conditions of Employment:
Employment in this position is subject to the provisions of MGL Chapter 71 and the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Mount Greylock Education Association and the Mount Greylock Regional School Committee.
An offer of employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment screening process to include National fingerprint-based Criminal Background Check (NCBC), Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI), and Sexual Offender Record Information (SORI).
All MUST be completed PRIOR to the start of employment.
