Job Title: Municipal Community Pool Captain & Co-Captain

Job Summary:
The Municipal Community Pool Captain and Co-Captain are responsible for assisting in the daily operations, supervision, and safety of Willingboro Township's community pools. These positions serve as leaders among the lifeguard team, ensuring adherence to all safety protocols, providing mentorship, and assisting with aquatic programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervision & Leadership: Assist the Aquatics Director in managing lifeguard staff, ensuring they adhere to schedules and assigned duties. Provide mentorship and support to lifeguards and swim instructors.
- Safety Enforcement: Monitor pool activities, enforce safety regulations, and respond effectively to emergencies. Conduct routine safety checks and report concerns to the Aquatics Director.
- Training & Development: Assist in conducting in-service training for lifeguards, ensuring all staff are up to date with lifesaving techniques, CPR, and first aid.
- Facility Oversight: Ensure that the pool area, deck, and surrounding facilities remain clean, organized, and safe. Assist with pool chemical checks and equipment inspections.
- Program Assistance: Support the coordination of aquatic programs, including swim lessons, fitness classes, and recreational swim activities.
- Emergency Response: Act as a primary responder in the event of an emergency, ensuring proper rescue procedures are followed and reports are completed.
- Communication & Reporting: Serve as a liaison between lifeguards and the Aquatics Director, ensuring clear communication of any concerns or operational needs.
- Event Support: Assist with planning and executing special pool events, including swim meets, community swim days, and safety workshops.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a lifeguard or in aquatics supervision.
- Current Lifeguarding, CPR/AED, and First Aid certifications (required).
- Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification (preferred).
- Strong leadership and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Outdoor work environment with exposure to sun and varying weather conditions.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform water rescues as necessary.
- Requires standing, walking, bending, and quick response times in emergency situations.
