Certification Details BLS ACLS NIHSS Job Details SICU position at Willis-Knighton Bossier Health Center 10 beds 2 years of experience required First-time travelers accepted Permanent address must be 50 miles away from facility Patient types include Respiratory Failure, Stroke, Sepsis, Renal Failure, Diabetes, Neuro, and Surgical patients Patient ratios : RN 1 : 2 Skills required : Stroke experience, Ventilator management, assist with intubation / extubation, CVL management / placement, foley cath management, tube feedings via NGT or PEG Traveler must pass an EKG competency exam prior to arrival Support on the unit includes charge nurse, IV / VAT team, resource nurse, RT 24 / 7, hospitalist in-house, OT, PT, ST Charting system : Meditech Expanse, IV pumps : Alaris, medication dispensing : Pyxis Floating to Stepdown, Stroke unit, Medsurg may occur Orientation : 2 days hospital and 1 shift on unit Job Requirements BLS certification required ACLS certification required NIHSS certification required 2 years of experience in SICU or similar specialty Schedule Information Weekend rotation : every other weekend Mandatory 4 days one week and 3 days the next week Possible rotations : 3 / 2 or 5 / 2 Time off : up to 7 days, must extend contract for any full week of RTO Only one weekend of RTO can be requested per 13-week contract No call required Holiday expectations : work 2 / 3 major holidays Unit Specific Information Charge nurse will take patient assignment No phlebotomy on the unit IV / VAT team available for PICC / midline placement Resource nurse available Additional Details Scrub color : Pewter Free parking in designated areas Traveler-friendly culture on the unit Professionalism is mandatory : no cell phone usage in patient care areas, no earbuds, no eating at desk
