SICU position at Willis-Knighton Bossier Health Center
10 beds
2 years of experience required
First-time travelers accepted
Patient types include respiratory failure, stroke, sepsis, renal failure, diabetes, neuro patients, and surgical patients
Patient ratio is RN : 1 : 2
Skills required include stroke experience, ventilator management, assist with intubation / extubation, CVL management / placement, foley cath management, tube feedings via NGT or PEG
Traveler must pass an EKG competency exam prior to arrival
Charge nurse will take patient assignment
Resource nurse available
RT available 24 / 7
Hospitalist in-house
OT, PT, ST available
Job Requirements
BLS certification required
ACLS certification required
NIHSS certification required
2 years of experience in a similar role
Stroke experience preferred
Schedule Information
Weekend rotation : every other weekend
Work 4 days one week and 3 days the next week (mandatory)
May work 3 / 2 or 5 / 2 rotations
Time off requests : up to 7 days, must extend contract for any full week of RTO
Only one weekend of RTO can be requested per 13-week contract
No call required
Holiday expectations : work 2 / 3 major holidays
Unit Specific Information
Orientation : 2 days hospital and 1 12-hour shift on unit
Floating to stepdown, stroke unit, and MedSurg may occur
