General Information : Beds : 12

Years of Experience : 2 years

Will Accept a First-time traveler : Yes

Travelers must be separated for 1 year if previously a perm staff

Patient Types : Including but not limited to : Respiratory Failure, Sepsis, Stroke, DKA, s / p heart cath, s / p aortogram / arteriogram

Patient Ratios : RN : 1 : 3

Skills required : Traveler will be required to PASS an EKG competency exam as part of compliance, prior to arrival (includes MedSurg RN)

Support on the Unit : Charge nurse will take patient assignment, Phlebotomy : none on the unit, IV / VAT Team : PICC / midline placement, Resource Nurse : yes, staffing dependent, RT : 24 / 7, Hospitalist available, 24 / 7, OT, PT, ST

Charting System / Equipment : EMR : Meditech Expanse, IV Pumps : Alaris, Medication dispensing : Pyxis

Floating : Units : Stroke unit, Medsurg (1 : 5-6) – could float frequently

Orientation : 2 days hospital and 1 12-hour shift on the unit

Job Requirements

Required Certifications : BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (preferred)

Skills required : CVL (management / placement), foley cath management, tube feedings via NGT or PEG, Arterial lines, Diabetes management, Drip titration – Levophed (preferred), Amiodarone, Cardizem, Insulin

Schedule Information

Weekend rotation : every other weekend

Will work 4 days one week and 3 days the next week – this is mandatory

May work 3 / 2 or 5 / 2 rotations, for example : 2 on 2 off, 5 on, 5 off

Can we approve time off? Up to 7 days – must extend contract for any full week of RTO

May only request (1) weekend of RTO per 13-week contract

Will they be on call? If so, what is that schedule? No call

Holiday Expectations : Will work 2 / 3 major holidays

Black out dates : Halloween 2024; Black Friday 2024

Parking : Free in designated areas

Professionalism is a mandatory requirement – no cell phone usage in patient care areas, earbuds cannot be worn, no eating at desk
