What are the responsibilities and job description for the Counselor position at Willis Knighton Health?
The Rehabilitation Counselor for the Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation assists patients, their families, and their caregivers address the psychological, emotional, and social burden associated with their recovery and rehabilitation following an illness, injury, disease, trauma, and/or surgical procedure. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, conducting psychosocial assessments, developing a treatment plan in collaboration with members of the interdisciplinary rehabilitation team, performing individual and/or group counseling and therapy interventions, and coordinating referrals to outside agencies to address the needs of the person served.
A Master’s degree in counseling or a related field and national or state licensure or certification in field of study as required by field is required.
Candidate must be attentive, organized, able to work cooperatively with others, and able to work independently. Candidate must be interested in improving professional skills through continuing education and reading current literature in their field. Candidate must possess a competent level of expertise in the evaluation and management of the psychological, emotional, and social burdens associated with rehabilitation diagnoses.
Candidate must possess written and verbal skills that enable effective and comprehensive communication the interdisciplinary team and the persons served.
The candidate will complete general hospital and departmental orientation.
