What are the responsibilities and job description for the 1.0 FTE Secondary Art Teacher position at Willits Unified?
Teaching students art methods and techniques including painting, drawing and sculpting. Supporting students as they develop their talents and skills. Helping students learn how to express their thoughts and emotions through their artwork. Developing classroom projects to ensure they align with curriculum requirements. Other art course curriculum includes animation, art history, art appreciation, painting, advertising design, cinematography, jewelry, sculpture, fashion design, fibers and textiles, printmaking, multicultural art/folk art, and lettering/calligraphy. The Willits Unified School District serves 1500 students in grades TK–12 from the City of Willits and surrounding areas. Committed to the small campus environment our district is composed of four traditional schools: Brookside Elementary (TK-2), Blosser Lane Elementary (3-5), Baechtel Grove Middle School (6-8), and Willits High School (9-12). In addition to our traditional schools our alternative programs offer students a variety of choices within our district’s governance: Sherwood Elementary (K-5) and Sanhedrin Alternative High School (9-12).

Knowledge of California Standards for the Teaching Profession
Appropriate valid California Single Subject Art Teaching Credential
CLAD or BCLAD authorization or equivalent
Applicants who have not worked in a certificated position for a California public school district within the last 39 months must include a copy of their California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST) verification card with their employment application.
