Intern - Web Developer UX/UI (Summer 2025)

Summary

The New York office of Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP is looking to hire a Front End Web Developer Intern to support the Design and Development Group within the Information Technology department with project based administrative work. Willkie is an elite international law firm of approximately 1,200 lawyers  located in 15 offices in six countries. 

The ideal candidate will be in the process of pursuing an undergraduate degree in computer science or similar with an interest in pursuing a career in these fields of study. Candidates should be intellectually curious and have the ability to adapt to changing priorities, and maintain confidential information at all times. Additionally, candidates will have strong computer skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. This role will work with the team to understand the business requirements, conceptualizing and creating wireframe/prototypes, flushing out approved designs, and full end-to-end testing of builds for custom applications to support strategic and innovative initiatives.

This a great opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in a law firm environment. Candidates should be available to work Monday-Friday during the duration of the summer internship. Duration of the internship will be based on business needs.

Responsibilities

• Quality Assurance testing experience.
• Full understanding of HTML/HTML5, CSS/CSS3, Grid, Flexbox.
• Knowledgeable of concepts and practice of responsive web sites using Bootstrap, CSS3, media queries, HTML5.
• Experience with user interface design practices.
• Experience with UI prototyping.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, ensuring client and staff satisfaction through proactive communication.
• Willing to take direction and bring new and innovative ideas to the team.
• Self-motivated, resourceful, independent and eager to learn new technologies.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an undergraduate degree in computer science or similar
• Must be comfortable in both Mac and Windows based platforms.
• Experience with JavaScript, Figma, Adobe CS, and responsive web design a plus.
• Experience with black box, end-to-end and various other types of testing methods.
• Experience with Asana or other tracking tool is highly preferred.
• Experience using UI Prototyping tools like Figma or Sketch is a big plus.

• Ability to sit at a desk most of the working day and walk short distances
• Needs manual dexterity, speed and accuracy in handling office equipment
• Ability to work efficiently and accurately in an atmosphere of frequent interruption
• Ability to work in close proximity to other individuals
• Ability to carry light to moderate objects, e.g., files, small objects and supplies a short distance.
• Must be able to lift, carry and move objects up to 15 lbs.
