As a Security Engineer 1 you will be responsible for protecting our organization’s IT infrastructure, ensuring the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of sensitive data. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles, threat analysis, and network security, as well as experience in implementing security solutions across various platforms. They will also be able to demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills and an ability to think creatively about solutions. This role involves identifying potential security threats, evaluating risks, and responding to security incidents to minimize potential damage.

Responsibilities
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design, implement, and maintain security architecture, firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), security information and event management (SIEM) systems, endpoint protection software, and other security tools to protect company data and networks.
- Develop and enforce security protocols and policies to safeguard IT infrastructure and data.
- Monitor and analyze security events, investigate potential threats, and respond to incidents quickly and efficiently.
- Investigate security incidents, providing solutions to mitigate any immediate risks and preventing future breaches.
- Maintain clear documentation of security procedures, policies, and incident reports.
- Regularly conduct vulnerability scans, penetration tests, and risk assessments to identify weaknesses and implement appropriate fixes.
- Ensure that security practices comply with industry standards, government regulations, and organizational policies (e.g., NIST, PCI, etc.).
- Work closely with IT and development teams to ensure security best practices are followed in system architecture, software development, and network management.
- Educate staff on cybersecurity threats and best practices and maintain security awareness programs for the organization’s workforce to reduce risk and promote a culture of security awareness.
- Assist in strategic security planning to achieve business goals by recommending initiatives and coordinating the evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future security technologies.
- Assist with the design and implementation of disaster recovery and business continuity plans, procedures, and enhancements.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION / CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree from a college or university with a major in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
- The following certifications are desired: Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified Ethical hacker (CEH), CompTIA Security .
- Minimum 5 years of relevant professional industry or experience in security engineering is required.
- Experience with property management and single-family housing environment/industry a plus.
- Highly effective written and verbal communication skills are required.
- Strong customer service focus and detailed oriented individual.
- Ability to work independently or as a team member.
- Candidate must be a team player and be able to follow processes and procedures.
- Self-disciplined, self-starter, professional who can successfully bring projects to closure with minimum direction, guidance and oversight.
- Ability to implement organizational processes and procedures.
- Ability to relate system design and configuration to security functions.
- Knowledge of security standards, processes, policies, security tools and audit procedures.
- Experience with cloud security (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python, Bash, PowerShell, etc.
- Proven ability to learn new technologies quickly, while also achieving a high level of proficiency.
- Solid technical background with an ability to give instructions to a non-technical audience.
- Plan, organize, and coordinate work to meet deadlines and accommodate rapidly changing priorities.
- Experience with DevSecOps practices and automated security solutions.
- Permanent, full-time position based out of our Dallas, TX technology support center.
- Flexible Hybrid work environment, role works partly at our Dallas technology support center and partly remote.
- The primary workplace is an office environment, with standard office equipment.
- Standing, walking, twisting, and bending body mobility required to access a standard office environment.
- Ability to lift 40 pounds.
- Required travel is less than 10%.
