Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Infection Prevention Nurse (LVN/LPN) to join our clinical team. In this role, you will oversee the facility’s infection prevention and control program, ensuring that all practices and procedures are aligned with state and federal regulations. Your expertise in infection control, education, and monitoring will be vital in maintaining a safe and healthy environment for both residents and staff.
Key Responsibilities
Program Coordination
- Develop, implement, and maintain the infection prevention and control program in accordance with regulatory standards and facility policies.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (nursing, housekeeping, dietary, etc.) to ensure infection control measures are integrated facility-wide.
Monitoring & Surveillance
- Conduct routine infection surveillance, investigating and tracking infection trends, outbreaks, and potential risk factors within the facility.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of infection rates, including reporting to local health authorities as required.
Staff Education
- Provide ongoing education and training to staff members on infection prevention protocols, proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), hand hygiene, and other relevant topics.
- Develop and update educational materials and in-service training programs.
Policy Development & Compliance
- Develop and revise policies and procedures related to infection prevention and control, ensuring compliance with state, federal, and CDC guidelines.
- Audit and evaluate compliance with infection control standards, providing feedback and corrective actions as necessary.
Resident Care & Assessment
- Collaborate with the nursing team to assess residents for signs of infection, monitor changes in condition, and initiate appropriate interventions.
- Support staff in implementing isolation protocols and treatments when necessary.
Quality Improvement
- Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives, identifying areas for improvement and recommending corrective actions.
- Assist in preparing for and facilitating external inspections and surveys (e.g., state and federal).
Qualifications
- Licensure: Current Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state of California (or eligibility to obtain licensure).
- Experience: Prior experience in infection prevention and control or a similar clinical role in a skilled nursing or long-term care setting is highly preferred.
