Overview
We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Camp Counselors to join our team for an engaging and rewarding summer camp experience. As a Camp Counselor, you will play a vital role in creating a safe, fun, and educational environment for children. You will be responsible for leading activities, providing support, and ensuring the well-being of campers while fostering their personal growth and development.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and engage with campers in various activities, ensuring their safety and enjoyment.
- Plan and lead age-appropriate programs including gardening, team challenges, leadership challenges, campfires, shelter-making, and basic nutrition education.
- Provide guidance and support in behavior management to promote positive interactions among campers.
- Foster a nurturing environment that encourages personal growth, teamwork, and respect for others.
- Communicate effectively with campers, parents, and fellow staff members regarding camper needs and progress.
- Assist in the implementation of special programs or events that align with the camp's mission.
- Must commit to a minimum of 6 weeks of summer, in 2 chunks of 3 week consecutive intervals. We run the same 3 week camp, repeated 3 times for a total of 9 weeks of camp. June 23 - August 22.
Experience
Ideal candidates will possess a background in childcare or education with experience working with children in group settings. Skills that are beneficial include:
- Group management youth ages 5-12.
- Familiarity farming / fruit and vegetable crops / chicken care.
- Previous camp experience or involvement in daycare settings.
- Understanding of childhood development principles.
- Experience in basic principals of starting campfires, making wilderness shelters.
- Strong behavior management skills to effectively handle safety supervision of campers in forest, stream, playground, and garden areas.
