School Counselor/ Adjustment Counselor
Willow Hill School is hiring a School Counselor/ Adjustment Counselor for School Year 2025-2026.
Founded in 1970, Willow Hill School provides a supportive and individualized educational program for middle and high school students who are capable of advancing along a strong academic curriculum but have experienced frustration in earlier school settings. Located in Sudbury, MA our school consists of students in grades 6 through 12.
Duties and Responsibilities:
•Support the social and emotional wellbeing of our students and communicate with their families and their support teams, including therapists.
•To be an advocate for students and their mental health and educational needs. To provide direct, timely, guidance or support to students in the present moment.
•Collaborate with other faculty, staff and administration to continuously meet the changing needs of our students.
•Facilitate communication between families, the school, and any outside service providers or agencies to effectively support student’s wellbeing.
•Attend and actively participate in Student Support Team meetings and Staff Meetings. Provide teachers and staff with updates on students who may be struggling or who need additional supports.
•Lead small group transitional planning classes to high school students including helping 9th and 10th graders and their families explore opportunities for life after Willow Hill.
•Maintain records of all counseling sessions and family and therapist communications.
•Maintain communication with parents, staff, teachers, and outside providers regarding the social/emotional needs and functioning of students.
•Collaborate with other departments to coordinate efforts for student support.
Desired Qualifications and Skills:
•MA School Counselor License
•Master’s Degree in Special Education, Social Work, Counseling, or Psychology preferred
•LICSW/LMHC or license-eligible preferred
•Previous experience directly serving children with learning differences or other special needs in a school setting. Experience as a school counselor, guidance counselor, or adjustment counselor.
•An ability to build trusting relationships with students and adults
•Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
•Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
•Commitment to school’s mission, values, and vision
•Ability to collaborate and work in a team environment
•A problem solver
•Comfortable presenting in front of small and large groups
