We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Vice President, Commercial Loan Workout Servicing to join our dynamic team.
Job Summary:
The Vice President (VP) Commercial Loan Workout Servicing is responsible for leading the management, restructuring, and resolution of distressed or non-performing commercial loan portfolios. This role requires a deep understanding of commercial lending, credit analysis, legal frameworks, and workout strategies. The VP will work closely with clients, legal teams, and external stakeholders to minimize losses while maximizing recovery rates and improving overall portfolio performance.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Loan Workout Strategy and Execution:
· Analyzes commercial loans and implements the most effective workout strategies for maximizing financial recovery.
· Negotiate with borrowers or their representative and other stakeholders to secure favorable workout arrangements and/or settlements.
· Pursues post judgment collection.
· Manages REO disposition, including Property Managers and Listing Brokers.
2. Portfolio Management:
· Identify early warning signs of distressed loans and recommend proactive measures to mitigate risks and execute timely resolution.
· Inspects, evaluates, protects, and disposes of collateral.
· Monitor portfolio performance and provide regular updates to senior management and clients regarding the status of loans using loan servicing, management, and communication software.
· Prepare and present loan portfolio status updates and reports as required.
· Monitors litigation and reviews/approves legal bills.
· Establishes and implements repayment plans, monitors compliance with the plan.
3. Risk Assessment and Credit Analysis:
· Collect, prepare, and analyze business and personal financial statements to administer a turnaround solution or exit strategy of complex credit relationships.
· Evaluate complex loan structures, including syndicated loans, asset-based lending, and real estate-backed loans.
· Perform document review during due diligence process.
4. Regulatory Compliance and Reporting
· Coordinate with legal, audit, and other stakeholders, as necessary, to ensure compliance of negotiated workout agreements.
· Directs loan operations on processing payments.
· Accurately document and maintain loan and loan related communications.
· Prepare detailed reports on loan performance, collections, restructuring efforts, and recovery rates for internal and regulatory review.
5. Cross-functional Collaboration:
· Partner with legal teams to manage foreclosures processes, bankruptcy filings, and litigation involving distressed loans.
· Communicated regularly with senior management, clients, and other stakeholders to align strategies and optimize results.
· Collaborate with external consultants, listing brokers, and property managers to support loan and REO recovery efforts.
· Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in business related field preferred though work experience may substitute.
· Minimum of 5 years asset recovery, loan workout, or loan servicing.
· Demonstrated experience handing complex commercial loan workouts, restructures, liquidations, and REO management.
· Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
· Strong credit and financial analysis skills.
· Experienced in interacting with clients, bank counsel, and third-party service providers.
· Strong negotiation skills and ability to work effectively under adverse conditions, including ability to effectively prioritize and manage time and workload.
· Highly motivated, self-driven individual who can think strategically, operate independently, and take accountability for the function.
· Knowledge of regulatory requirements and legal frameworks around commercial lending, distressed loans, foreclosure proceedings, and bankruptcy processes.
· Proficiency in loan management software and financial modeling tools.
