The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) provides diagnostic evaluations and therapeutic treatments to enhance patient functionality and daily living skills under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist. This role requires a Bachelor's degree in occupational therapy and registration with the American Occupational Therapy Association, along with strong leadership and customer service skills.
The COTA will design and administer treatment programs to increase patients' levels of functioning, using activities to improve or maintain strength, range of motion, and fine-motor coordination. Instructs patients in adapted techniques and the use of adaptive equipment for meal preparation, home management, dressing, feeding, and other self-care skills. Trains patients in the use of upper-extremity prosthetic devices to resume previous daily routines.
The ideal candidate will have experience working in a skilled nursing setting and be able to work effectively as part of a healthcare team. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential for this role, as well as the ability to work independently and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
