Overview:
Willow Valley is hiring a Manager of Education and Training to oversee the creation and delivery of training programs across the organization, including both clinical and non-clinical roles. The manager will routinely support the team by serving as an active educator of various programs. The role involves oversight of the Team Members within the education department, coordinating initiatives to meet the organization goals and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute comprehensive training plans and strategies to meet the needs of the organization.
- Identify training needs through assessment and collaboration with Team Leaders and Team Members.
- Develop and coordinate delivery of training that meets the Pennsylvania Department of Health and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services requirements for Team Members working in Supportive Living. This will include but is not limited to general orientation, healthcare specific topics, respiratory program fit testing, risk assessment training, and annual nursing competencies. Maintain a collaborative relationship with the Supportive Living Administrative Team for development of programs to meet Team Member’s needs.
- Develop and coordinate delivery of dementia training that meets the role specific performance needs for those assigned at the Marlin & Doris Thomas Memory Center, and for those working with Residents affected by cognitive impairment.
- Develop and coordinate the delivery of the medication technician training program through the Department of Human Services. Coordinate the program with the leadership within personal care and memory center.
- Serve as the Program Coordinator for the Nurse Aide Training program. Providing oversight to verify compliance with Pennsylvania Department of Education requirements, and delivery of a quality learning experience for the students. Support the instructor by actively assisting with teaching, lab experience, clinical days, and required documentation. Actively participate in the advisory board meetings.
- Design and deliver education opportunities to Team Members to enhance their skills, their knowledge, and to enhance safety.
- Develop and offer education opportunities to Residents, SmartLife Members and guests in collaboration with the Resident Life Team.
- Participate routinely as an active teaching educator.
- Partner with subject matter experts to improve existing training materials and methodologies.
- Communicate with Team Leaders and Team Members to evaluate existing on-boarding training for effectiveness and assist to make adjustments as appropriate.
- Remain current with best practices and regulatory requirements using relevant and up-to-date resources.
- Supervision: Recruit, hire, train, and supervisor Team Members of the education team. Meet with members of the team to provide on-going guidance and support. Conduct performance evaluations and coaching as needed.
- Oversee the budget for the department by effectively allocating resources for financial sustainability.
- Maintain membership to represent the team on the Safety Committee, Infection Control Committee, Nurse Aide Training advisory board, and Quality Assurance Committee. Attends and leads team meetings as indicated
- Provide excellent customer service at every opportunity.
- Recruit, hire, train, and supervisor supervise Team Members of the education team. Meet with members of the team to provide on-going guidance and support. Conduct performance evaluations and coaching as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Registered Nurse active license in the state of Pennsylvania.
- Registered Nurse for at least three years, preferably with geriatric experience. Minimum of 1 year of experience in long-term care.
- Train the trainer certification to teach the Nurse Aid Training Program.
- Certified CPR instructor preferred, or ability to become certified.
- Certification in Dementia, or ability to become a certified dementia practitioner.
- Minimum of two years of leadership experience.
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License and have a vehicle to arrive at various work sites.
