Primary Function :
- Under the supervision and direction of a Registered Nurse, the Inpatient Nursing Assistant provides age appropriate patient care and clerical assistance in accordance with hospital policies and best practices.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
Assists with patient hygiene, mobility, physical comfort, eating and drinking, while observing patients for any changesRecords patient vital signs, routinely, or as directedPerforms 12 lead EKGMaintains competency in routine blood draws and patient specimen processSchedules patients as necessary based on information from Residents and Fellows given to inpatient RNsEscorts or transfers patients in the hospital as neededAssists with the discharge of patients and escorting them to their vehiclesAssists in the maintenance of unit cleanliness and equipment cleanlinessAssists with maintenance of stock levelsAssists with transfer of stretchers between work spacesDistributes linen to appropriate areasRemoves linen and trash to appropriate areasAdheres to strict Standard Precautions and Blood-Borne Pathogens protocolMaintains BLS certification every two yearsAppropriately prepares / handles / delivers patient nutritionRegularly attends staff meetings and in-servicesSatisfactorily completes basic assignments within a given time frameComplies with the hospital's incident reporting systemLeads the construction and completion of electronic and paper charts for impending proceduresAssists in the filing, collating, and scanning of patient medical record documentation as necessaryEnsures that existing patient files are maintained in an orderly fashion and contain all necessary pre-admission test documentation during the registration processSupports PAT functions and medical records as neededManages paper charts and files as directedAssists in data compilation, and entry to assist in Quality Improvement projects and inventory managementInteracts effectively with other health care team members to keep them informed of changes in the condition of the patientFormulates and maintains effective working relationships with peers, managers and other members of the health care teamAvoids repeating rumors or soliciting unfounded statements, keeps personal biases to oneself, maintain positive imageReceives constructive feedback in a positive self-develop-mental mannerFunctions as an effective team memberDemonstrate adaptability, flexibility, and accountability when changes are made in job description and responsibility, including performing all qualified duties throughout other areas of the hospitalStrives to maintain the confidentiality of all patients and their families / significant other(s)Position Requirements
