The Wilmette Park District offers Summer Short-term staff the following benefits: Individual Seasonal Beach and Pool Pass, One (1) parking decal for Gillson Beach (over 16 years of age only), Individual Center Fitness Club Membership for June – August the current year of employment.
Job Summary: The Golf Outdoor Operations staff member assists the Head Golf Professional by anticipating guests' needs in various responsibilities as assigned. These may include, but are not limited to, work in the Cart Barn, Driving Range, and Short Game Area. Managing the first tee and monitoring the pace of play will also be essential functions of the position.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

Actively support the agency's risk management protocol that will effectively control and reduce accidents
-
Promptly report all unsafe actions, practices, or conditions to the immediate supervisor
-
Obey the practical safety rules, regulations, and procedures established by the Safety Committee, attend and participate in required safety training
-
Perform other related duties as assigned, based on agency needs
-
Maintains a clean and functional cart fleet.

Stages and maintains carts daily.
-
Assist with tournament set up and break down
-
Set up, maintain, and break down the driving range and practice area daily
-
Operates ball picker on the range to retrieve balls.
-
Washes all range balls daily.
-
Advises pro shop of lost and found clubs.

Convey information about the Wilmette Golf Course programs to the public
-
Develop positive relationships with participants and patrons
-
Attend staff meetings as scheduled
-
Work collaboratively with other staff as needed
-
Be a positive role model for students
-
Responsible for assisting golfers in preparing to tee off and keeping pace
-
Actively contribute to the Park District's sustainability goals
Safety Responsibilities:

Required Skills/Abilities (Technology, Mathematical, Language):

Knowledge of service-oriented duties, and equipment required

Golf experience preferred

Understand the fundamentals of the golf swing

Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
-
Ability to take initiative and use good judgment in responding to situations that arise

Ability to take direction and adapt to the work environment
Education and/or Experience:
-
Age 16 with a valid drivers license
-
Must be self-motivated and customer service oriented
-
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

Must be able to sit or stand for long periods, stoop, bend and kneel
-
May spend time indoors, in a controlled environment, and outdoors in an uncontrolled environment

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds

Exposure to cleaning and disinfecting supplies
