Gillson Beach Customer Service Representative Job Summary
The Gillson Beach Customer Service Representative (CSR) is responsible for monetary transactions and customer inquiries at the Beach House or Sailing Office. As the first point of contact for customers, the CSR must be well-informed, friendly, and able to communicate effectively. This position requires excellent customer service skills, computer proficiency, and the ability to make sound decisions autonomously.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Process customer purchases through the computer system while keeping accurate receipts
- Reconcile and close-out daily sales receipts and daily reports using established batching procedures
- Provide excellent customer service, addressing the needs of customers in person and via phone
- Comply with established Park District and site procedures
- Perform other related duties as assigned based on agency needs
- Actively contribute to the Park Districts’ sustainability goals
Safety Responsibilities:
- Actively support the safety program that will effectively control and reduce accidents
- Obey all Park District and departmental safety rules, regulations, and procedures established by the Wilmette Park District safety program that are pertinent to the activities conducted at the facility and property
- Promptly report all unsafe actions, practices, or conditions to the immediate supervisor
- Attend and participate in required safety training
- Review all accident and incident reports that occur under the area of responsibility and send them to the Human Resources/Risk Management division
- Responsible for administering minor first aid if needed
Required Skills/Abilities (Technology, Mathematical, Language):
- Ability to deliver information in a clear and effective manner
- Ability to use computers and recreation software
- Preference will be given to applicants with experience using RecTrac software
- Basic mathematical skills required
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, schedules, and procedural manuals
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and, at times, stressful environment

Education and/or Experience:
- Must be at least 16 years of age
Physical Requirements/Work Environment:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Occasionally required to stand, walk, sit and climb or balance
- Tolerate a moderate to high noise level at times
- Frequently required to use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- Holiday and weekend work is required
