Purpose:
Provides outpatient services for healthcare related imaging to patients of all ages in the areas of general abdomen, OB/GYN, and small parts. The Ultrasound Technologist assists in developing and administering sonographic procedures and policies as well as organizes machine maintenance and performs periodic calibrations.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Performs abdominal, retroperitoneal, small parts, limited Vascular, limited obstetric and gynecological exams
- Writes up/ takes history for patients
- Obtains prior imaging related to study being performed
- Reschedules patients as needed
- Maintains records of examination data and other pertinent information on patients
- Communicates critical findings to Radiologists in Notes as needed
- Actively participates in the quality-assurance monitoring and recording efforts of the department
- Cares for as well as operates necessary equipment and contacts lead with any equipment issues
- Performs necessary maintenance with usage of other Special Testing equipment
- Maintains cleanliness of all work areas and abides by OSHA guidelines
- Maintains a supply of clean laundry: sends out all soiled laundry weekly, and assumes responsibility for receiving clean laundry; distributes clean laundry to appropriate areas
- Places orders for all supplies and equipment as needed to maintain adequate stock, utilizing principles of cost effectiveness
- Assumes assigned responsibilities in a cooperative effort to maintain departmental quality assurance
- Demonstrates awareness of patient needs and education, striving to provide excellence in quality patient care and abiding by all HIPAA guidelines
- Provides assistance to co-workers as is necessary and appropriate, demonstrating a consistent effort to increase the speed and efficiency of all departmental functions
- Provides clear, complete instructions to all patients, answering questions as accurately as is possible
- May travel to various Wilmington Health locations as needed, to include Jacksonville, NC, Porters Neck, and/or Leland.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- Education: Completion of an ultrasound-training program with ARDMS certification
- Licensure: Current RDMS registry
- Experience: General radiology skills and at least two to three years of experience as a sonographer.
- Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with patients and co-workers.
