Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Coordinates and maintains all assigned surgeon’s block time.
- Documents and reports on established metrics for block utilization and other metrics as determined by Manager.
- Ensures all open assigned OR block for WH Surgeons, when not filled with specifically assigned surgeon, is offered to other WH surgeons prior to being released.
- Notifies hospital/surgery center in a timely manner if OR time is being released. Maintains record of block releases.
- Schedules surgeries at Novant New Hanover Regional Medical Center, SurgCare and WH ASC for all assigned providers.
- Ensures correct diagnosis codes and CPT codes are entered for surgery.
- Updates surgery whiteboard in office and digital board online with additions/changes.
- Coordinates and communicates scheduled surgery date to patient, surgeon and clinical team.
- Coordinates any necessary appointments required for patient related to surgery.
- Collaborates with clinical staff for patient or provider schedule changes and completes all necessary components as above.
- Ensures post-op appointment is scheduled.
- Verify post op appointment is kept through utilization of failsafe.
- If post-op appointments are missed, notifies the clinical staff for provider and documents in EHR.
- Completes all required documentation in the EHR.
- Communicates pertinent information to surgeon, clinical team and OR.
- Communicates with managed care team to verify surgery authorization by insurance and document pertinent information in the EHR.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- Must be RN/LPN/CMA
- Experience with medical terminology and surgery scheduling
Preferred:
- 3-5 years’ experience surgery scheduling with high volume practice
