Purpose :
To obtain, through Computerized Tomography, cross sectional images of internal organs and tissue of diagnostic value for interpretation by Radiologist
Schedule : 9 hours per shift
Essential Duties / Responsibilities :
- Performs quality assurance checks on equipment and procedure areas
- Run and record Phantom QA scans in PACS
- Verify that PACS is operational
- Ensure proper safety standards are met
- Consistently demonstrate knowledge of correct emergency shutdown procedures
- Consistently demonstrate knowledge of proper fire and safety evacuation's
- Verify all ancillary equipment (monitoring devices, injectors, surveillance equipment) is operational
- Ensure procedure room is clean and up to Infection Control standards
- Inspect rooms for potential environment of care hazards (O2 tanks / outlets, lighting) and any discrepancies reported to supervisor in a timely manner
- Perform complex specialized tasks associated with the operation of CT scanners and related equipment in accordance with prescribed radiation safety procedures
- Position patients for CT scans using immobilization and protective equipment as necessary
- Assist physicians with imaging procedures, starting IV's and injecting contrast, if necessary
- Assist physicians with interventional CT procedures
- Evaluate CT scans for technical quality, collate processed images in sequence of exposure and appropriately label
- Transmit appropriate images to PACS
- Order supplies in PROCUREIT
- Dispense oral contrast to patients for CT scans
- Load and operate power injectors for contrast media administration
- Provide orientation and training to new CT technologists
- Provide education and training to student technologists
- Perform other related duties incidental to the work therein
