JOB SUMMARY:
We are looking for full time content editor who can perform the functions of professional writing, editing and strategic thinking for the development of mental health and forensic investigations. Writer will, under administrative direction, write, edit, and proofreads clinical documents and protocols, as well as perform other related duties incidental to work described herein. Lead proposal writing efforts for Federal, State, Local, and Private dollars. Independently work on grant administration processes and applications. Perform other program development and proposal roles as assigned by program Director. Write grants and support grant and develop other funding proposals.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in Nursing, English, Journalism, or Communications
Master's degree preferred.
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION: N/A
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrates medical writing experience.
- Writing examples will be required at time of interview.
- On-the-job training provided in medical record and health information system procedures.
- Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills to work with faculty and other research staff Strong computer skills including working knowledge of web based forms
- High degree of independence and initiative
- Detail oriented, adaptable, organized and demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple projects and tasks.
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office, and data management software.
EXPERIENCE:
- Experience in grant and contracts administration or management preferred
- At least one year experience in a clinical, scientific or publishing environment; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A minimum of one year of grant writing experience required
- Prior experience in community health or health care setting strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in obtaining grants from non-profits, state and federal funding sources and other philanthropic organizations.
- Experience with sourcing opportunities, contact development, and business relationship management.
- A working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, legal aspects of health information
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Performs the functions of medical writing, editing and strategic thinking for the development of mental health and forensic investigations.
2. Writes and/or edits grant applications, manuscripts, abstracts, and posters. Writes, prepares, and edits grant applications for various agencies, including federal, foundation and institutional.
3. Works with director to establish objectives, outcome measures, and pertinent data collection elements. Interacts with providers to ensure that analytic plans are complete and accurate to meet objectives.
4. Creates and/or changes protocol templates as appropriate based on review of operational and analytical issues.
5. Develops and updates specifications for protocol design, particularly to be used as a tool for new clinical procedures.
6. Provides updates to director regarding progress of protocol and grant projects.
7. Prepares federally required reports regarding research activities and funding.
8. Assist in organizing, planning and directing the medical records department in accordance with established policies and procedures.
9. Maintain active and discharged medical records with established system
10. Notify staff involvement of incomplete records
11. Assist in reporting all incidents/accidents
12. File information such as provider notes, patient assessments, progress notes, lab reports, correspondence etc.
13. Performs other related duties incidental to work described herein.
Job Types: Part-time, Contract
Pay: $10.00 - $12.00 per hour
