Effective immediately: (FT) Faculty Librarian – Library, Wilmington University, New Castle.
Requirements: Master’s degree in library science or other relevant degree required. Must have excellent communication, customer service skills, and organization skills. Must be detail-oriented and able to work with diverse populations. Must be self-directed and able to make decisions independently. Must be computer literate, and proficient in various applications like Microsoft Office and web conferencing software. Knowledge of research databases and library systems (circulation, interlibrary loan, and digital collections) and familiarity with online course management systems are expected. Must be committed to professional development in a rapidly changing work environment. Must demonstrate respect for diversity in the workplace and a commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive work environment that values the contributions of all employees. The ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality in any situation is necessary.
- Oversee daily library operations, ensuring high-quality service delivery to students, faculty, and staff, both on-site and virtually.
- Coordinate circulation and interlibrary loan services, both lending and borrowing of materials. Ensure compliance with national standards, including copyright laws and appropriate format for fulfilling requests. Supervise the processing of shared materials.
- Train, supervise, and evaluate resource-sharing staff, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment.
- Collect data and report findings for circulation, resource sharing, and space usage.
- Lead space planning initiatives to optimize library facilities for all users.
- Maintain open communication with partner institutions and site staff to ensure consistent services for WilmU community.
- Engage in outreach activities to promote library resources and services.
- Provide guidance on copyright, fair use, Open Access, and academic publishing as needed for interlibrary loan, digital projects, digitization of library materials, and reuse of copyrighted content.
- Support initiatives for Open Educational Resources (OER) and textbook alternatives, offering guidance and support on workflows, policies, and procedures.
- Provide reference support, research consultations, and information literacy instruction to students, faculty, and staff.
- Serve as a member of the library leadership team in planning, assessing, delivering, and managing library operations and contributing to library policy development and strategic planning.
- Development of innovative approaches to problem-solving for information access and/or new library services. Preparation of substantial reports or studies either for internal or external purposes involving data collection and performing research or the application of the librarian’s professional knowledge and skills.
- Participate as a member of the Faculty Senate.
- Promote and foster an inclusive and diverse environment for all students, faculty, and staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager of Library Resources, Systems, and Public Services.
Hours of Employment: The incumbent will be responsible for overseeing evening and weekend operations, which include scheduled evening shifts. The work schedule will primarily be Monday through Friday, with required evening shifts. Library service hours are as follows: Sunday from 12 p.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Thursday from 9 a.m.-7 p.m., Friday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. The incumbent must demonstrate flexibility in their schedule and hours to meet the department and University’s needs. Occasional travel to other sites may be necessary.
