Job Summary
The Design Engineer will work with other engineers, mechanical drafters, and company personnel from other departments to define product specifications, develop conceptual and final design solutions, manage and coordinate project activities, support existing product offerings, and test/analyze new and existing products.
Primary Duties:
- Design components, perform calculations, set up part numbers, and create bills of materials for new product development projects
- Create technical 2D drawings (machine and pattern), manufacturing schematics, submittal general arrangement drawings, and digital 3D models of mechanical equipment designs using measurements, specifications, and additional data from the engineering team
- Coordinate directly with project engineers, salesmen, and production team to understand project requirements, verify design details, and recommend modifications as needed according to company standards and best practices
- Revise component machine and pattern drawings as needed for supported product lines
- Manage and maintain engineering change notice (ECN) records in compliance with the company's ISO 9001:2015 certification
- Manage and maintain drawing and 3D model library of all components for supported product lines
- Perform and write reports for modal and/or static analyses using computer-aided finite element techniques
- Provide support as needed reviewing technical project equipment specifications and quotation configurations for engineered-to-order product
- Assist with troubleshooting problems encountered throughout the manufacturing process of pumps in production, and assist with troubleshooting issues with pumping equipment encountered by end users in the field (will not include on-site field services)
- Work to improve product quality and performance

Requirements
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technology
- 1-3 years of experience, pump industry experience preferred
- Advanced skill with AutoCAD
- Advanced skill with Autodesk Inventor Professional, SolidWorks, or other solid modeling software
- Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong leadership and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Excellent creative thinking and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Actively works to minimize complexity
- Good organizational skills, being able to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
- Work effectively under pressure individually as well as part of a team
- Knowledgeable of machining and fabrication processes
- Strong knowledge of engineering fundamentals
